Table of contents

Comfort first of all!

Your photo shoot outfit should not only look beautiful but also be comfortable. Choose clothing that allows you to move freely and feels good to wear. This is especially important when navigating Venice’s cobblestone streets and bridges. Flowy dresses, comfortable shoes, and breathable fabrics can make a big difference.

Weather Considerations: Venice can be humid and warm, especially in summer, so choose lightweight, breathable fabrics.

Layering: Bring layers, as temperatures can change throughout the day.

Footwear: Comfortable shoes are a must for walking around Venice’s many bridges and uneven surfaces.

Test Your Outfits: Try on your outfits before the shoot to ensure they fit well, look good in various poses, and are comfortable.

Find your style and family look

Is this photo-shoot a special occasion and you want to be dressed “black tie” elegant?

Or you would rather be more casual ?

Summer flower dresses?

Keep in mind:

  • it will look better if whole family wearing matching style without some members being super elegant and others wearing sportswear.
  • your footwear should match the outfit, please no flip flops!

Coordinated Colours for you family photo shoot outfit

Coordinating colours doesn’t mean everyone needs to wear the same outfit.

Aim for a harmonious color palette that complements both the setting and each other.

Choose a color scheme with 3-5 colours that work well together.

This way, your family looks cohesive without being too matchy-matchy.

Combination of Patterns and Solid Colours

Mixing patterns with solid colours can add depth and interest to your photos. If one family member wears a patterned piece, balance it out with solid colours on others. For example, if one person wears a striped shirt, others can wear solid colours that complement the stripes. This prevents the patterns from overwhelming the photo and ensures a balanced look.

If you want to use patterns in more than one outfit make sure the patterns colours match and they washed down with neutral elements.

here are some great examples of outfits with patterns looking good!

Choosing colours to match Venice colour palette

Venice’s color palette features a range of neutrals, greens, ochre and beiges, reflecting the historic and natural beauty of the city.

Consider incorporating these colors into your outfits to harmonise with the surroundings.

Soft greens, earthy beiges, and classic neutrals will blend seamlessly with Venice’s backdrop.

However, don’t be afraid to add a pop of color. Prime colours such as red, blues and yellows can provide a striking contrast against the city’s neutral tones, making your photos stand out.

This especially good will work if you choose San Marco route with its more bright and beige/grey pallets

What to avoid for your family photo shoot outfit?

  1. Fluorescent Colours: this colours not only clash with Venice palette tones but also will give color reflex on your skin!
  2. Heavy patterns: to many patterns can overwhelm photo if somebody wears heavy patter wash it with some matching solids for other family members.
  3. Not being dressed for the weather. If the outfit you prepared for the shoot is for much warmer temperature than it is please bring some layers. you can quickly put your warm jacket on and of for photos.
  4. Uncomfortable Clothing: There will be a lot of walking so if you chose pretty high heels don’t forget to bring change. Your outfit should feel comfortable so you will feel comfortable on the photos too!

  • Monochromatic: Monochromatic colours are derived from three shades, tones, and tints of one base color. Its an easy way to reach harmony in your outfit
  • Analogous: Subtle variation in hue, they sit side by side on the color wheel. This color combination is soothing and pleasant to the eyes.
  • Triadic: Triadic colours consist of colours that are apart from each other on the color wheel. This combination is very contrast and gives dynamic look.
  • Tetradic: Choose two colours apart from each other on the wheel, and you will get tetradic colours. This color scheme gives your design plenty of color variety, balancing both contrast and harmony.
