During our initial planning call, Kyle and I discussed several potential locations, but he was particularly drawn to San Giorgio Maggiore. This quiet, picturesque island offers stunning water views of San Marco Square, providing a breathtaking and uniquely Venetian backdrop. It was truly the perfect choice—peaceful, open, and far from the bustling crowds of the main island. Plus, Kyle had a romantic dinner near San Marco planned to celebrate their engagement afterward!
Opting for a proposal during a vacation photoshoot is brilliant. Since Kyle and Mary frequently took photos together, it provided the perfect cover, ensuring Mary wouldn’t suspect a thing. The Moment Unfolds: From Gondola to “Yes!”
Our 90-minute session began with a classic gondola ride, capturing intimate moments as we glided through the heart of Venice. As we settled into the gondola, Kyle discreetly handed me the ring box, trusting me to pass it back to him at the precise moment on the island.
The weather that day was wonderfully moody, with a few soft raindrops during our gondola journey. But as we approached San Giorgio Maggiore, something magical happened: the sun dramatically broke through the clouds, bathing the island in a glorious light. It felt like a sign, perfectly setting the stage for what was about to happen.
On the island, I set up my phone on a tripod to capture some behind-the-scenes video. I asked Kyle and Mary to pose for a few shots, and as they hugged, I subtly slipped the ring box back into Kyle’s hand. “Now, look at each other,” I prompted my signal.
And just like that, Kyle dropped to one knee. Mary’s eyes welled up with happy tears as he proposed, and with a joyful heart, she said, “YES!”
